Revopoint 3D
The latest iteration in Revopoint 3D’s RANGE 3D scanner series, the RANGE 2, has been launched by the company. Revopoint says the new model improves on the original “in nearly every way”.
Revopoint 3D says the RANGE 2 offers fast and accurate large object scanning capabilities at an affordable price for consumers and small businesses performing reverse engineering, quality control, automobile modification, rapid prototyping, and more..
The updated hardware of the new device, compared to the previous iteration, offers improved large object scanning with its 60% larger maximum single capture range of 860 x 1380 mm at 1,300 mm and fast 16 fps scanning speeds. Revopoint says this provides rapid capture and better tracking of cars, people, or industrial equipment, or other large items.
The company says that the RANGE’s 0.1 mm single-frame precision and 0.1 mm point distance creates detailed, accurate 3D models that are ready to be imported into CAD or 3D modelling software for various applications. While the improved RGB camera, supported by four flash LEDs, provides detailed colour scans. Revopoint says these scans are suitable for aiding rapid asset creation for VFX or game development.
Revopoint also highlighted the usability of the new scanner being improved, with the addition of Wi-Fi 6 for lower latency scans and a USB Type-C port for faster-wired connections. Improved tracking of marker points and easier calibrations from RANGE 2’s four infrared LED fill lights increase the marker points’ visibility.
The Kickstarter for Revopoint’s MIRACO 3D scanner closed in December 2023, raising 2,986,325 USD in funding from 2,923 backers, well overtaking the initial goal of 60,000 USD.
