Renishaw continues its partnership with INEOS Britannia as it endeavours to become the first British sailing team to win the America's Cup. The British metrology and healthcare technology group will provide position measurement, manufacturing process control and Raman spectroscopy products and expertise to help elevate the team.

- As INEOS Britannia's official technical partner, Renishaw will provide the British sailing team with additive manufacturing and position measurement expertise.
- The precision measurement and healthcare specialists will supply products and expertise in the position measurement, manufacturing process control and Raman spectroscopy fields.
- INEOS Britannia will use recycled carbon from West Midlands-based recovery plant, ELG Carbon Fibre, as part of the sailing team's sustainability goal.
In its capacity as INEOS Britannia’s official technical supplier, Renishaw will provide additive manufacturing and position measurement expertise as the British sailing team takes part in the America’s Cup next year. With Renishaw’s additive manufacturing support, the INEOS Britannia boat will receive bespoke lightweight structural components.
In addition, INEOS Britannia will also benefit from the support of Renishaw’s Spanish subsidiary whilst the team is stationed in Spain. This support will come via Renishaw's Additive Manufacturing Solutions Centre in Barcelona.

From our AM Solutions Centre in Barcelona, we can provide a rapid response should the team need additional support with additive manufacturing components once racing has started.”
Within the America’s Cup rules, each team must showcase sustainable innovation through its boat design. To meet this expectation, INEOS Britannia opted to reduce its need for new carbon fibre. Instead, the team will use recycled carbon from West Midlands-based recovery plant, ELG Carbon Fibre.

Knowing that Renishaw has also committed to extensive Net Zero goals and is taking steps to reduce emissions gives us the confidence that we can continue to improve sustainability in our efforts to win the Cup.”
What is the America’s Cup?
Sailing clubs worldwide travel to compete in the America’s Cup, the world’s oldest international sporting trophy. The competition, which started in 1851, predates the modern Olympic Games by 45 years.
The INEOS Britannia sailing team is hoping to become the first British team to win the America's Cup in its 172-year history. The 37th America's Cup occurs between August and October 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
