PTC launches Creo 11
PTC has unveiled the 11th edition of its Creo computer-aided design (CAD) software and the new Creo+ SaaS CAD solution. The product lifecycle management software developer aims to speed up the design process while also enhancing electrification, composites, model-based definition, simulation-driven design, and manufacturing.
“Creo 11 and Creo+ deliver enhancements that design engineers will use every day,” said Brian Thompson, General Manager of Creo at PTC. “Improvements to our AI-powered generative design and integrated Ansys-based simulation gives customers the opportunity to employ simulation-driven design earlier in the development process to improve time to market, initial product quality, and manufacturing cost.”
He concluded, “PTC has continued to invest in Creo’s capabilities for model-based definition (MBD), design of electrical sub-systems, composite designs, and advanced manufacturing.”
Key features of Creo 11:
- Improved usability and productivity: The modelling environment has seen greater investments with support for multibody concepts, streamlined workflows, and a refined Shrinkwrap feature.
- Strengthened electrification: Better cabling and ECAD-MCAD collaboration. Users can utilise these features to manipulate locations precisely, place components more effectively, and gain improved visibility.
- Advancements in composite design and manufacturing: Improvements in composite design, simulation, and manufacturing capabilities have been made.
- More Model-Based Definition (MBD) tools: Upgraded tools allow teams to organise design data into simple tables using defined text, parameter callouts, and semantic references.
- Simulation-driven design: With its new generative design, Creo 11 can help users achieve better design ideation, guidance, and validation.
- Enhanced manufacturing tools: Additive and subtractive tools improve efficiency and versatility levels in manufacturing.
Additionally, Creo+ utilises the functionality of Creo to aid SaaS solutions with cloud-enabled collaboration and entitlement tools. No data translation is needed between Creo+ and on-premises Creo as they are both built using the same core technology.
