Plastometrex pipeline verification tool
Plastometrex has announced the successful independent verification of its pipeline validation testing data, acquired by its material verification tool. RSI Pipeline Solutions LLC conducted the review.
Key information:
- Plastometrex has declared the successful independent verification of its pipeline validation testing data.
- Bill Amend and Joel Anderson from RSI Pipeline Solutions LLC completed the verification process.
- 125 samples were collected through months of testing and were thoroughly analysed, according to RSL.
The advanced mechanical testing technology provider developed a non-destructive tool for the material verification of oil and gas transmission pipelines. The tool allows pipeline operators and inspection providers to measure both yield and tensile strengths quicker, easier, and more reliably, with final results available instantly.
Bill Amend and Joel Anderson from RSI Pipeline Solutions LLC completed the analysis of Plastometrex’s pipe testing validation datasets. Amend has over four decades of metallurgical engineering experience within the energy sector, his proficiencies include failure analysis, integrity management of early vintage steel pipelines, and in-situ non-destructive determination of pipe properties.
"I’m very pleased I was able to contribute to the independent review of Plastometrex's pipeline material verification work," said Amend. "This collaboration exemplifies the industry's commitment to developing tools that not only meet regulatory requirements but also enhance the safety and efficiency of pipeline operations."
The datasets that Amend and Anderson analysed had been collected through months of testing across a broad spectrum of grade, size, vintage, and weld types. This testing set the foundation for RSL’s evaluation of the tool’s performance. 125 samples were tested using accuracy metrics including Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Maximum Over-Prediction. The report detailing the analysis and results aims to provide network operators and service providers with more confidence when testing data.
“This independent review underscores our commitment to transparency and scientific integrity,” said Dr James Dean, CEO of Plastometrex. “While our internal validation work has always been conducted in conformance with highly rigorous standards, the objective review by RSI staff helps to demonstrate our dedication to providing pipeline engineers with the most accurate and most reliable tools possible.”
