Mecmesin has expanded and redesigned its OmniTest universal testing (UTM) range. The testing equipment manufacturer has added three new single-column models with capacities of 0.5kN, 1kN, and 2.5kN. The range’s existing models, which feature twin-column test stands in 10kN, 25kN, and 50kN, have also received a redesign.
Key information:
- Mecmesin has expanded its OmniTest universal testing (UTM) range.
- The range includes single-column modules with the capabilities of 0.5kN, 1kN, and 2.5kN. As well as twin-column test stands of 10kN, 25kN, and 50kN.
- The OmniTest range is also compatible with the company's VectorPro software.
Mecmesin, known for its force, materials, and torque testing equipment for quality control, has updated its OmniTest UTM range. Its brand new single-column models are said to be ideal for bench-top environments with a limited amount of space, and caters for forces below 2.5kN. The single-column models claim to feature a precision ball screw that drives a crosshead mounted with an ELS load cell.
Whereas Mecmesin’s pre-existing twin-column models, which have received a re-design, are equipped with two ball screws. The testing equipment manufacturer claims that these products feature increased rigidity and more space between columns, with improved usability and can test larger samples.
"Innovative engineering and a deep understanding of our customers' needs have come together to create a UTM, that not only incorporates the latest technological advancements in VectorPro software, our easy-to-use and intelligent test analysis software, but also looks great in any laboratory or QA environment,” said Dr Patrick Collins, Technical Director at Mecmesin. “Our products prioritise powerful functionality, intuitive operation, and touch screen friendliness, ensuring faster, smarter testing with accurate, reliable, and reproducible results."
The OmniTest range aims to meet the needs of research and development laboratories and quality assurance environments across a variety of industries when it comes to demanding tension and compression measurement applications. Mecmesin claims that its testing range is an ideal solution for conducting static tensile and compressive tests to measure the mechanical properties of various materials. These materials include ceramics, composites, elastomers, fabrics, glass, metals, plastics, and rubbers.
Following the testing process, OmniTest provides quantitative data results, which aim to provide a high degree of repeatability and effective quality control. Additionally, the testing equipment manufacturer claims that the OmniTest range ensures improved load accuracy, with a reading accuracy of 0.5% and a resolution of 1:50,000. This allows for a larger variety of tests to be performed without the user having to switch load sensors.
OmniTest’s listed features consists of a user-friendly front panel, coloured LEDs for visual cues, improved electronics, and high-resolution precision Enhanced Load Sensors (ELS). The front panel allegedly allows for easy selection of test parameters, live load, and length readings, as well as precision manual crosshead positioning using the multifunction controller. Users can also use a touchscreen controller, which operates with Microsoft Windows, and is pre-installed with Mecmesin’s VectorPro software.
Key features of the VectorPro software:
- Batch testing.
- It can be supplied with or without an extensometer.
- Cloud-based sharing of programs and test results.
- Customised report generation.
- Drag and drop interface.
- Full data export.
- Full traceability for FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
- Immediate display of results.
- Personalised workspace.
- Real-time graph plotting.
- Secure user accounts.
“The new OmniTest models with their improved mechanical performance and build quality compliment VectorPro perfectly, which many already feel is the most intuitive and feature rich testing software on the market,” said John Page, PPT Group Managing Director. “Solving customer problems is in the Mecmesin DNA and we are now uniquely placed to offer a range of high-end material testing systems and where required more basic product testing solutions all at an affordable price with the modularity the new OmniTest range brings.”
