Sample parts Aerospace Fasteners
Following on from the news earlier this month of General Inspection installing a gauging system at a large bolt manufacturer, the inspection solutions specialist has unveiled more exciting news. This time, the company has installed one of its Gi-100DT automated inspection systems for a large manufacturer of precision aerospace fasteners in California.
The Gi-100DT features six cameras for dimensional inspection, internal and external visual defect detection, as well as top and bottom surface inspection. The system will be able to be used on a full range of turned aerospace collars.
Key features of the Gi-100DT:
- As standard, the system comes with three cameras, one on the side (measuring profile features), one on the top, and one on the bottom (both measuring OD, ID, roundness, and concentricity).
- Detects defects including dents, scratches, chatter, pitting, and chips.
- Three additional cameras with patented optics are placed above and below the parts to monitor for internal and external defects (e.g., damaged ID threads, cracks, burrs, and dents).
- Enhanced flexibility to handle a variety of parts, with quick part-to-part changeover. Simply, an operator selects the part number, and all adjustments are made automatically.
According to General Inspection, the Californian manufacturer chose Gi “after searching the world.” The company went on to claim that its defect detection, fast changeover, and inspection rates (300 parts per minute minimum) were deciding factors.
