Flexim headquarters in Berlin
Emerson has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Flexim Flexible Industriemeßtechnik GmbH. The German company specialises in clamp-on ultrasonic flow measurements for liquids, gases, and streams. The move is expected to expand Emerson’s intelligent devices portfolio with the addition of ultrasonic technology.

Flexim manufactures accurate, low-maintenance, clamp-on ultrasonic flow measurement technology that the company claims is ideal for use in the chemical, water & wastewater, life sciences, food & beverage, and power generation industries. The German company hopes to bring its highly differentiated, complementary technology and strong customer relationships to Emerson, having already installed over 100,000 flowmeters.

Emerson hopes that the acquisition will boost its automation and measurement capabilities, whilst also complementing existing flow measurement positions in Coriolis, differential pressure, magmeter, and vortex flow measurement. Additionally, the global ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeter market is expected to grow in the long term. As a result of the acquisition, Flexim’s Berlin headquarters is expected to become Emerson’s Ultrasonic Flow Measurement Centre of Excellence.

The deal is expected to close by the end of Emerson’s fiscal year, subject to customary closing conditions. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed at this time.
