Cognex In-Sight SnAPP vision sensor
Cognex Corporation has launched its new In-Sight SnAPP vision sensor. The industrial machine vision manufacturer claims its new sensor has enhanced ease of use, accuracy, and functionality standards compared to its competitors, especially in terms of industrial sensors.
Key information:
- Cognex has unveiled its In-Sight SnAPP vision sensor.
- The industrial machine vision manufacturer claims its latest launch is set to feature improved ease of use, accuracy, and functionality capabilities.
- Additionally, the In-Sight SnAPP sensor will allow Cognex to enter the vision-sensing market for the first time.
The In-Sight SnAPP sensor expands Cognex’s capabilities in the field of vision sensing and also adds $1 billion to its served markets.
“The In-Sight SnAPP, designed for maximum simplicity and ease of deployment, provides customers a new, accessible on-ramp to machine vision,” said Carl Gerst, Executive Vice President of Products, Platforms, and Solutions at Cognex. “We’re now making Cognex’s industry-leading edge learning technology accessible to more businesses around the world, in nearly every end market, enabling users to quickly improve efficiency and streamline their manufacturing processes.”
Cognex claims its new sensor can solve a range of quality control issues (e.g., assembly verification, defect detection, and presence/absence inspections). Vision-based detection can provide improved capabilities to locate features and parts in any position and detect small defects compared to conventional laser-based sensors.
Additionally, users with no prior programming or vision knowledge can use the In-Sight SnAPP sensor as it is trained only using a few samples. Ease of use is further promoted as the user interface is web-based and can be plugged in and run anywhere using a standard web browser. The In-Sight SnAPP is the first Cognex product that does not require software for installation.
“The In-Sight SnAPP is our easiest-to-use product to date, combining our industry-leading vision capabilities and edge learning technology with a sharper focus on user experience,” said Robert Willett, President and CEO of Cognex. “Expanding into the vision sensing market with the In-Sight SnAPP will help propel our Emerging Customer initiative, broadening our customer base and contributing to our long-term growth targets.”
