Bruker Alicona will be exhibiting at GrindingHub for the first time this year. The measurement technology manufacturer will be joined by Nagel Maschinen- und Werkzeugfabrik GmbH, which specialises in honing and superfinishing technologies.
The duo has collaborated on a new automated cutting edge preparation cell called NaPrep. The technology is designed to automate the selective and defined cutting edge rounding process.
Before the launch of NaPrep, this process already had a host of benefits including reduced risk of chipping, improved quality, and prolonged tool life. Now, with NaPrep, the process is automated with enhanced quality assurance courtesy of Bruker Alicona.
“We have expertise in precision machining and in robotics. It therefore made sense to combine these two areas of expertise,” said Manuel Kernchen, Product Manager of NaPrep in the Advanced Robotic Solutions department. “Bruker Alicona’s measurement technology is a market leader and much more accurate than tactile methods.”
Key features of NaPrep:
- Suitable for round tools with lengths of 35 mm to one metre, and diameters of 1.5 to 20 mm.
- An integrated quality assurance system that provides automatic process correction, ensuring a closed loop.
- Supports man-less shift operation through its robot-based process control.
- Enables automatic wear compensation.
- Workpiece detection and edge operation are enhanced with the presence of optical sensors.
- Improved ease of use with its simple set-up and teaching methods.
NaPrep is equipped with Bruker Alicona’s optical 3D metrology technology, EdgeMaster. This addition provides the automated cutting edge preparation cell with high-resolution and robust measurements of edge rounding and evaluation software.
Additionally, Bruker Alicona will also exhibit other cutting edge quality assurance products at GrindingHub 2024. The EdgeMasterX, InfiniteFocus G6, and FocusX will be displayed in Stuttgart.
