Aramco and OQ Technology strengthen ties with new technology connectivity MoU
OQ Technology and Aramco have signed a new MoU, representing a renewal in collaboration efforts between the two companies. OQ Technology is hoping to expand its Satellite IoT services and solutions for connecting Aramco’s Intelligent Integrated Node (IIN) technology.
Key information:
- OQ Technology has announced that a new MoU with Aramco has been signed.
- The two companies are aiming to create an integration package, designed for the oil and gas industry to improve network manufacturing value chains.
- Additionally, as a result of the MoU, investment opportunities may be created in Saudi Arabia linked to converging automation and connectivity technologies.
The new agreement is designed to ensure future collaboration between the two companies, allowing the pair to continue to work on the automation and Satellite IoT connectivity for Aramco’s remote site infrastructures. Both companies are also working towards creating an integrated package including Aramco’s automation edge technology (which is developed by MOXA) and OQ Technology’s infrastructure. The package will aim to promote solution opportunities in the network manufacturing value chain, specifically targeting the oil and gas industry.
The potential combination of OQ Technology’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) 5G NB-IoT infrastructure and Aramco’s automation edge technology, is the significant element regarding the collaboration. If effective, the combination could accelerate the development of IoT applications, automotive, fire protection, healthcare, intelligent defence, personal products, safety, security & surveillance, and other industries both within Saudi Arabia and on a global scale.
"Integrating 5G IoT and IIN technologies will increase operational efficiencies downstream, reduce raw material consumption, and minimise personnel travel to remote sites, contributing to a more efficient green economy– a key component of Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision,” said Omar Qaise, Founder and CEO at OQ Technology. “The MoU further advances the technological cooperation between Aramco and OQ."
About Aramco’s IIN technology
Invented by Aramco, and designed by MOXA, the Intelligent Integrated Node (IIN) is an automation infrastructure technology. The product combines instrumentation control, monitoring, and edge computing capabilities into a single fault-tolerant device. It can also be used to unify various devices.
IIN technology is currently focused on delivering value to operating energy companies. However, there may be opportunities to incorporate the technology in the agriculture, power, smart city, transportation and utility sectors.
