API 9D LADAR for aerospace manufacturing inspections
Automated Precision Inc. (API) has unveiled its “transformative” approach to aerospace manufacturing inspection. The dimensional metrology solutions provider’s new approach features its Dynamic 9D LADAR mounted on an Autonomous Guided Vehicle (AGV).
Key information:
- API has unveiled its Dynamic 9D LADAR which aims to transform aerospace manufacturing inspection processes.
- The new solution can be mounted onto an AGV.
- According to its developer, the 9D LADAR should improve automation, precision, and productivity levels for manufacturers in the aerospace industry.
By positioning the 9D LADAR on an AGV, the new solution offers greater flexibility, and the ability to cover more of the manufacturing floor as it moves autonomously and can adjust its measurement height when needed. API’s new solution claims to feature a 25m range and boasts a scanning speed of 0.2 seconds/cm2, allowing it to capture dimensional and surface geometry data without making contact, with enhanced precision.
“The integration of our 9D LADAR with AGVs represents a significant leap forward in aerospace manufacturing,” said Joe Bioty, President of API. “This innovation not only ensures the highest levels of accuracy but also streamlines operations, enhancing productivity and efficiency.”
The aerospace industry has a notorious reputation regarding its high-quality standards and precision manufacturing requirements. And API believes its Dynamic 9D LADAR, which claims to be a precise and fast non-contact measurement system, fulfils the industry’s requirements.
The key benefits of API's 9D LADAR system:
- 3D accuracy of 23 μm + 6 μm/m (2 sigma).
- Reduced potential of human errors as it eliminates manual inspection.
- Can be easily integrated into manufacturing processes and is compatible with third-party metrology software.
- Promotes improved productivity as it allows for rapid, precise, and automated inspections.
