Additive Assurance, a leading company in additive manufacturing quality control, has announced the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for metal additive manufacturing (AM) quality at its Oakleigh facility in Victoria, Australia.
The company has also announced the launch of the AMiRIS-LF (large format), which it says is a significant step forward in production scale quality assurance for metal 3D printing. The system is tailored for large format laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) 3D printers with platforms of 400mm or larger.
Additive Assurance says the new system brings the company’s process monitoring and quality assurance solution to larger production systems, with a focus on aerospace, defence, and energy applications.
To support commitment to innovation and providing class leading QA to its customers, Additive Assurance says it recently installed and commissioned a TRUMPF/Sisma Mysint 300 LPBF 3D printing system, with assistance from Headland Technology. This 3D printer will serve as a demonstration facility for quality assurance applications and further Additive Assurance’s development capabilities.
The company says the decision to select the TRUMPF/Sisma Mysint 300 was based on its industrial readiness and ‘impressive’ capabilities. Additive Assurance says it believes this investment will enhance its reputation for delivering high-quality solutions for quality control and productivity in metal 3D printing.
The Centre of Excellence in Oakleigh represents a move from Additive Assurance in its plan to become a hub of innovation and collaboration in the field of metal AM according to the company. The facility is equipped to facilitate research, development, and training.

Additive Assurance’s AMiRIS in situ quality assurance system allows manufacturers to rapidly identify defects, produce repeatable quality metal 3D printed products, while increasing productivity according to the company. Additive Assurance says the standard AMiRIS now supports eight different LPBF machines types.
