Accumold will showcase a selection of small, intricate parts at MD&M South
Accumold’s extensive history and knowledge of the medical micromoulding industry will be on full display at this week’s MD&M South event in Charlotte, NC. At the company’s stand, attendees will be able to examine a selection of small, intricate parts it has developed in the last 39 years. Additionally, Accumold will also showcase its thin-walled cannulas, which can now be micro-injected moulded at volume.
“Accumold is rightly today acknowledged as the world leader when it comes to the manufacture of extraordinarily small plastic parts that require extreme precision — typically measured in microns,” said Paul Runyan, VP of Sales & Marketing at Accumold. “The company is adept at the production of small-sized parts with micro features from 5 cm to less than 1 mm, and has specific expertise in insert moulding, two-shot moulding, and cleanroom moulding using an array of materials including PEEK, LCP, and most engineering thermoplastics.”
“The company is unique in that it is truly vertically integrated, and as such it is able to operate as a one-stop partner in the development and manufacture of medical devices and components. Under one roof, Accumold offers design and material assistance, micro tool fabrication, proprietary micro moulding services, cutting-edge metrology, assembly, and automation, and this facilitates the streamlining of customer’s medical product development process, and the attainment of optimal outcomes in terms of timeliness, cost, and accuracy.”
Throughout its nearly 40-year history, Accumold has partnered with a variety of medical device manufacturers worldwide. Each collaboration has seen product efficiency at the heart of any work completed. The precision micromoulding specialists are ISO 13485 accredited, which further supports the company’s claims of putting quality assurance at the forefront of everything it does.
“We are especially pleased to be able to discuss our ground-breaking innovation in the field of thin wall cannula manufacture at MD&M South. Micro moulding cannulas at volume with an outside diameter of 0.035” (0.889 mm), an inside diameter of 0.027” (0.6858 mm), and a wall thickness of 0.004” (0.1016 mm) is routine at Accumold today,” concluded Runyan.
“We have achieved this through attention to material choice, several critical DfM considerations, assembly considerations, maintaining a balanced aspect ratio to avoid challenges associated with flow dynamics, cooling, and structural integrity, and critically importantly through the use of our proprietary micro moulding presses. Micro moulding thin-walled cannulas is a game changer for medical device manufacturers overcoming the labour-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive traditional thin wall cannula manufacturing processes such as extrusion, tipping, and glueing to a metal hub.”
About Accumold
Established in 1985, Accumold has aimed to innovate industrial applications of micromoulding in the medical device industry. As standard, the industry expects affordable, timely, and miniaturised parts. Additionally, each part must have a high level of precision, can be produced through repeatable manufacturing, and be defect-free.
According to Accumold, throughout its long history the company has been able to establish itself as the largest micro moulder manufacturer in the world. Due to the size of the organisation, Accumold hopes its customers feel reassured when working with the company, both when it comes to the performance of its parts and the cost-effectiveness of its services.
You will be able to find Accumold at MD&M South, Charlotte, NC, USA at booth 1911 from the 4th to the 6th of June.
