Sempre launches CT services

Scans, and data analysis made approachable

There are many advantages to using CT scanners over other methods. In particular if a component is hollow, has internal gaps or if the shape is complex and has areas that are unreachable by the probe of a Coordinate Measuring Machine, CT scanners are one potential solution to this challenge. In addition to this, CT scanners are relatively fast and can scan an entire component for which multiple machines might be needed if other methods are used.

It is for these reasons that The Sempre Group has launched their new CT scanning services based in their Dublin office: “The new system and service will allow manufacturing customers to see both internal and external features of their component, with applications including GD&T, defect analysis and Part-to-CAD comparison.”

The key to The Sempre Group’s approach is not just an attempt to make industrial CT scans affordable, but also to make the process approachable. Their new system, the RX Solutions EasyTom, is not only available for purchase, but also for contracted scanning services.

“The gap in the market is efficiency — often manufacturers need multiple systems to measure a component completely, and sometimes it can take as long as five days to measure things like plastic injected moulded parts,” explained Jason McGlynn, commercial manager of The Sempre Group. “The new EasyTom enables us to introduce an all-in-one solution. All we need to do is put the customer’s part in the scanner and after only one hour, we can tell them everything they need to know.

“Visualisation is important and is something that we already offer with many of our measurement systems,” continued Mr. McGlynn. “We can help manufacturers gain a better understanding of the internal working and quality of their parts by showing them as 3D models. We then give them a report with all the data included so they can act on it accordingly.”

The Sempre Group offers a range of services with the new system, such as failure investigation, allowing a client to accurately measure the internal geometry of a component easily. CAD comparison is another important service, where The Sempre Group can compare the scan to the original CAD design, highlighting discrepancies as a colour coded 3D model. This, in turn, allows the client to pre-emptively recalibrate or service machinery when needed.

To demonstrate its effectiveness and explain their process and services, The Sempre Group will be hosting a webinar on the 24th of August, 2022, for which you can register here.
