Nikon’s Industrial Metrology Business Unit has unveiled version 13.2 of its AutoMeasure software. The software, which creates programmes for performing precise dimensional measurements, receives an automated edge setting function which is brand new to the system.

Key information:

For over 30 years Nikon’s NEXIV series of video measuring machines have used the AutoMeasure software. Now, the optoelectronic and precision technology solution provider’s latest upgrade aims to enhance the company’s already established product.

Version 13.2 claims to automatically locate the precise position of features within a region that the user specifies, even when the operator only determines an approximate location. This automation process aims to speed up the measurement process as it allows it to begin sooner. The user then selects the correct edge, from a selection of suggested options.

The automation process also allows for accurate variations, with Nikon claiming improved repeatability even if different users are operating the metrology system. Additional alleged benefits include reduced time spent during the programming of the measuring routine pre-inspection, a simplified procedure, and overall increased efficiency of the NEXIV video measuring systems.
