Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has unveiled its HxGN Production Machining suite. The new software aims to enhance machine shops and help users improve its operational processes in the manufacturing of discrete parts, tools, and components with machine tools at any scale. Additionally, the new software is ideal for use whether it regards one-off prototypes or volume production, no matter the industry.

Key information:

Hexagon designed its new software suite with automation and innovative technologies to allow its users to achieve highly efficient utilisation of material, cutting tools, and CNC equipment. The HxGN Production Machining software works by helping users reduce errors and eliminate redundant tasks as it analyses common workflows. These tasks could be in job quotation, design review, production, quality assurance, or product delivery. The suite is compatible with other Hexagon products, allowing for simplified procurement, implementation, and support.

“The HxGN Production Machining suite helps shops of all sizes run their businesses more productively by providing a robust software tool set within a connected and intelligent digital workflow that helps teams get it first-time right,” said Chuck Mathews, General Manager of Production Software at Hexagon. “Using the principles of model-based manufacturing and the automation benefits of artificial intelligence (AI), we are helping our customers achieve greater operational excellence.”

“Innovations within the suite include our new CAM system, ESPRIT EDGE, which combines the DNA of Hexagon’s EDGECAM and ESPRIT software with powerful digital twin and AI technology,” concluded Mathews.

Hexagon's three CAM systems (EDGECAM, ESPRIT, and ESPRIT EDGE) can allegedly program any machine tool (including multi-axis, mill-turn, multi-tasking, Swiss-type, and wire EDM machinery). The trio can be used for a variety of different applications like machining cycles, programming for on-machine measurement, robust automation tools, machine-optimised G-code, and the use of AI to automatically generate collision-free positioning between cutting zones.

According to its developers, the HxGN Production Machining software suite has a host of capabilities including:

“Through our suites, we refocus innovation on what matters most to customers, be that in single product or leveraging data across workflows,” said Parth Joshi, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Hexagon. “Our cloud-based Nexus platform supports future developments that will simplify collaboration and consolidate job data so teams can improve efficiency and quality as they run jobs through their shops from quote through final delivery.”
