Big updates for Lumafield after successful Series B funding
Total of $67.5 million USD of funding raised, with major updates for Lumafield's products.
X-ray and CT specialist Lumafield has made some major announcements for their near future. There will be new features for its desktop X-ray computed tomography platform, in order to bring wider access to their products to engineers and designers. Lumafield also announced that their Series B of funding has amounted to $35 million USD (£30 million GBP).
“Lumafield has been fortunate to have some of the world’s leading investors back our vision of ‘CT ubiquity.’ Thanks to their support, we’ve been able to help engineers change the way they work on everything from cosmetics packaging to bike parts,” said Eduardo Torrealba, co-founder and CEO of Lumafield. “We’re honored by this vote of confidence from Santo and Victoria, as well as our Seed, Series A, and Series B investors. We’re excited to move into our next phase of supercharged growth.” The Series B funding adds to the total of $67.5 million USD (£58 million GBP) so far.
The announcements follow from Lumafield’s reveal of the Neptune scanner and Voyager software in April. There is also a major update for their desktop CT scanner, which Lumafield says is now more than 300 times faster.
Powered by AI, the Voyager software that the Neptune scanner works with promises to make CT scanning a practical and affordable process. Lumafield offers prices starting at $3,000 USD (£2,600 GBP) per month, which it says makes their product viable for both high-volume manufacturing offerings, as well as one-off scans.
The Neptune scanner captures a series of X-ray images, which are then fed into the Voyager software. The AI-tools then create a detailed 3D reconstruction that shows the external and internal makeup of the product.
