Lumafield unveils new AI co-pilot, Atlas

Lumafield has revealed its new AI co-pilot, Atlas, which aims to provide engineers with answers and advice regarding complex engineering and manufacturing challenges using plain language. The new tool will be available on Lumafield’s Voyager cloud-based software which analyses 3D scans and industrial CT scan data. Additionally, the software will receive other new capabilities including the ability to upload, analyse, and share data from any 3D scanner.

Atlas hopes to help users by speeding up material selection, cost engineering, and root cause analysis. The tool will work in the Voyager software, where users can upload a 3D scan and then compare parts to the original CAD models. Additionally, users can perform dimensional analysis, add bookmarks and comments, and share all of this with collaborators.
According to its developers, the Atlas tool should essentially feel like the user has an additional engineer working alongside them. While the tool can answer engineering questions, it can also analyse 3D scans, pinpoint issues, and suggest solutions. Allegedly, Atlas can speed up the product development process at every stage by reducing hours and engineering workflows. Additionally, the tool can recommend materials and manufacturing processes, perform cost engineering, troubleshoot problems, and perform root cause analysis.

About the Voyager software
Lumafield’s Voyager software was released in 2022 as a companion to the company’s Neptune industrial X-ray CT scanner. As of today, Voyager allows users to upload scans from any 3D scanner, with users also now able to share their scans with collaborators, take dimensions and perform comparisons. These comparisons can be made between other scans or the original CAD model.
