Waygate Technologies' bendable digital X-ray detector, the DXR Flex.
Waygate Technologies, a Baker Hughes business, has unveiled its new bendable digital X-ray detector, the DXR Flex. The non-destructive testing solutions specialist designed the detector to withstand harsh conditions, with the DXR Flex aiming to replace traditional X-ray film. Additionally, the solution claims to streamline field inspections across a variety of industries including oil & gas, power generation, chemicals, pulp & paper, aviation, and space industries.
The DXR Flex works by encircling pipe welds, a task previously only possible for X-ray film or CR phosphor imaging plates. With the solution’s dual-sided exposure capability, it can also conduct the double-wall double-image (DW-DI) elliptical radiographic technique for small pipes.
Key features of the DXR Flex:
- Enhances field radiography inspections.
- Designed for applications with round objects down to 150mm (6”) in diameter.
- Based on demo projects, overall inspections should be concluded with up to 65% fewer exposures.
- Reduced set up and inspection time as well as overall asset downtime.
- When combined with the Rhythm Insight software platform and the Flash! Image enhancement software, the DXR Flex can leverage improved image quality in weld inspection.
- Boasts a 99 µm pixel pitch high resolution.
- The solution is battery-powered and can be used either wired or wirelessly, with users also able to send images directly to their laptops.
- Features IP67 protection with the detector waterproof and shielded from dust.
Waygate Technologies prioritised user convenience and efficiency when designing the DXR Flex. The solution offers quick set-up and improved user comfort levels, even when using it in confined spaces.
