VI-grade PG.
VI-grade has unveiled its virtual environment for vehicle testing, the VI-grade Virtual Proving Ground, which is compatible with the VI-WorldSim technology. The comprehensive digital testing facility is specifically designed with the automotive industry in mind to reduce development time and costs, while also improving vehicle quality and safety.
"The VI-grade Virtual Proving Ground represents a significative advancement in virtual vehicle development," said Dave Bogema, Senior Director of Product Management at VI-grade. "By providing a comprehensive, highly realistic testing environment, we're enabling our clients to push the boundaries of innovation while significantly reducing the time and resources typically required for physical prototyping and testing."
Key features of the VI-grade Virtual Proving Ground:
- Includes an 8.6 km track with four lanes and a maximum banking angle of 11 degrees, allowing for high-speed testing and aerodynamic evaluations.
- European and American motorway/highway simulations can occur using a 2 km stretch.
- Users can conduct specialised testing like on a 3.2 km handling track, a 1.15 km rally track, and a 2.4 country road, as well as on various surface types
- A dedicated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ASAS) evaluation for developing autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles.
- Unique road conditions like ramps with varying gradients, surface irregularities, split friction coefficient testing and wet conditions can also be simulated.
The new solution is fully integrated with the VI-WorldSim simulation software. This allows for the implementation of existing workflows. Relating this capability to the automotive industry, this software allows the user to leverage current investments while accessing the VI-grade Virtual Proving Ground.
