SCANcalc app allows complex calculations for 2D and 3D scan systems
SCANLAB GmbH has expanded the capabilities of its calculation app, SCANcalc. The scanning solutions specialist designed this free app to help simplify calculations when checking scan parameters for specific individual requirements.
Initially, the app was able to calculate the focus diameter and display the accuracy of 2D scanning systems at various focal lengths. With the latest update (version 1.40), this has now been expanded to include 3D systems. Now, the spot size and Rayleigh length are easier to calculate.
The optimum scan system was selected based on factors including laser power, required dynamics, and the level of precision needed. The technical specifications of each 2D or 3D scan head have to be matched with the required process parameters.
There is an iOS and Android version of the new 1.40 update, available in both English and German. The app also includes a glossary, known as SCANpedia, which explains technical terms and provides a help menu for any questions the user may have.
