Plastometrex partners Airbus
Plastometrex and Airbus have announced their collaboration to help streamline mechanical testing and to overall enhance material insights. The duo aims to promote the standardisation of PIP, Plastometrex’s Profilometry-based Indentation Plastometry solution.
Traditional tensile testing solutions require test pieces that conform to precise dimensions, which is quite expensive and can hinder the time it takes to complete a project. Additionally, these solutions can also limit testing in various circumstances, like when samples are small or irregularly shaped.
Whereas PIP makes sample preparation more straightforward, with the entire process complete in a matter of minutes. The solution can also test specimens directly and at a fine scale, allowing for the testing of small or irregularly shaped pieces, with more data able to be extracted. By using PIP, Airbus should experience quicker testing workflows with richer data generated, ensuring high levels of safety in aerospace engineering.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Airbus on standardising PIP. This partnership highlights the transformative potential of our technology, enabling faster, more versatile, and data-rich testing,” said Dr Jimmy Campbell, CTO at Plastometrex. “Together, we're setting a new standard in mechanical testing that aligns with the rigorous demands of the aerospace industry.”
