LK Metrology expands accuracy and stability with 4.5-inch mounting ring upgrade

LK Metrology has upgraded the size mounting ring that its portable measuring arms can be attached to. Now, its arms that are offered in either 6-axis touch-probing or 7-axis multi-sensor variants can be supplied with a 4.5-inch diameter mounting ring rather than the 3.5-inch predecessor. This development allows for improvements in stability and accuracy, with the Version 3 FREEDOM Arms now able to measure with higher precision.

The mobile metrology solutions are based on a lightweight carbon fibre tubular construction, with feedback provided by absolute rotary encoders rather than incremental. Each arm is available in three categories: classic, select, or ultimate and are now able to provide more accurate measurements of size, position and form. Additionally, probing accuracy has received ISO 10360-12 certification and has guaranteed functionality of up to 40°C.

LK Metrology 6-axis measurement arms:

  • Full IP54 protection from water splashes and dust particles.
  • Provides reliable and repeatable 3D inspection and measurement results in harsh environments.
  • RDS v6.4 software helps the arms communicate via Wi-Fi or USB.
  • Improvements in monitoring ambient temperature, stress of articulating joints, base vibration, displacement, tilt, and inclination.
  • Users will receive an alert if the IP54 protection were to fail.

LK Metrology 7-axis FREEDOM Arm v3:

  • Not IP54 certified.
  • Deploys a laser scanner and tactile probe to provide multi-sensor metrology.
  • The user operates an OLED touchscreen which improves productivity levels as the user doesn’t need to travel between the arm and a computer.
  • Comes with two rechargeable, hot-swappable battery packs with an Ethernet connection for the probe and laser scanner to use when Wi-Fi is not available, minimising downtime.

For users of the 3.5-inch diameter ring, a mounting ring adapter is available with mechanical, magnetic, and vacuum fixing alternatives.
