uEye XS- Tiny housing, big in shape.
IDS Imaging Development Systems has launched its new tiny, autofocus camera. The uEye XS is only 26.4x23x21.7 mm and weighs just 12 grams. According to the industrial camera specialists, the uEye XS camera is ideal for applications where a vision system is required, as it can be embedded into the machine.
With the help of the camera’s autofocus features and 5 MP CMOS sensor, the uEye XS can achieve consistently sharp images and videos even from a distance of only 10 cm. This makes the camera ideal for applications requiring hand-held scanners, and robotic arms.
uEye XS is a mini camera with 5 MP, USB interface and autofocus.
The addition of the autofocus ensures that the camera can be used in industrial settings where the distance between the lens and its intended target is constantly changing. With an automatic focus/refocus feature, there will be no need for manual refocusing, and objects will still come out clear.
However, camera focus isn’t the only factor that can determine the clarity of an image. Other features like natural colour reproduction and harmonious contrast also play a key role. Taking this into account IDS added more features including white balance, exposure, and gain to help improve the final image quality. These settings can be adjusted in the IDS Software Suite (SDK).
There is also a starter kit available for IDS’ new launch, which is said to be ideal for those wishing to test the camera. A cable, tripod and adapter are also available.
