Flexxbotics launches Intelligent Recovery.
Flexxbotics has launched its patent-pending Intelligent Recovery solution. The new system aims to allow for the autonomous restart of collaborative robots (cobots) without human intervention. Intelligent Recovery is now available to customers via the latest release of the Flexxbotics solution.
“We believe that in order to achieve true ‘lights-out’ autonomy, the robots need to understand what’s happening and be able to adapt and adjust without forcing an operator to come over and fix things,” said Tyler Modelski, CTO & Co-founder of Flexxbotics. “What we are doing with Intelligent Recovery is enabling continuous operation in situations that would have previously stopped production.”
The workcell digitalisation specialist hopes the solution minimises downtime and increases unattended production. This will be made possible by eliminating non-safety, time-consuming cobot stoppages.
During operations, cobots will periodically encounter instances where they will be required to reset and restart. Circumstances including part-workholding contact and non-safety related conditions mean that these issues will negatively (and completely unnecessarily) impact production output, especially when no employees are present. With the addition of Intelligent Recovery, cobots will now be able to recognise the reason behind a stoppage and automatically recover to minimise downtime.
