Curtiss-Wright
Curtiss-Wright acquires Ultra Energy.
Curtiss-Wright Corporation has acquired Ultra Nuclear Limited and Weed Instrument Co., Inc (Ultra Energy). By acquiring the safety-critical measurement and control systems provider, Curtiss-Wright hopes to expand its commercial nuclear portfolio to help support plant life extensions and modernisation projects of ageing power plants. Additionally, the company hopes to expand its presence in the US and European markets by designing small modular reactors.
Ultra Energy is known for designing and manufacturing reactor protection systems, neutron monitoring systems, radiation monitoring systems, and temperature and pressure sensors. These solutions help ensure the safe and reliable operation of commercial nuclear reactors and other power generation plants. The company dates back to the 1950s and currently employs around 300 people with facilities in Wimborne, UK, and Round Rock, TX.
The $200 million deal was completed in cash, with the acquisition supporting the company’s long-term financial objectives for profitable growth. In 2023, Ultra Energy generated sales of around $65 million. Following the acquisition, the business will operate within Curtiss-Wright’s Naval & Power segment.
