Bowers Group's Trimos V5 height gauge.
Zeus Piezoceramic, a subsidiary of Neptune Sonar, selected Bowers Group’s Trimos V5 height gauge to enhance its quality assurance levels. The PZT ceramic parts producer faces demands of very precise sizes and tolerances in the products it produces, which are essential for sonar technology used in underwater imaging and communication.
This type of technology generates electrical signals when compressed and produces movement when electrically charged. This allows the solution to convert electrical signals into mechanical vibrations and vice versa, which is essential in maritime security, seabed mapping, and maritime research.
“Ensuring the highest quality of product is paramount to us, as it can play a critical role in sonar equipment. We sought a more reliable solution that offered a higher resolution than callipers and micrometres, whilst also aiming to eliminate human error,” said Sam Parry, Material Scientist at Zeus Piezoceramic. “The Trimos V5 height gauge has proven to be easy to use, accurate, and consistent. The time saved and the improvements in our measurements are invaluable to our production. We were very happy with the service from Bowers Group; the demonstration before purchase ensured the ease and accuracy were as promised.”
Key benefits of the Trimos V5 height gauge:
- Reduces measurement quality assurance timings, both at the end of the process and during machine setup checks.
- Boosts accuracy levels with its high-resolution abilities to measure at constant pressure, ensuring critical dimensions of sonar ceramics.
- Enhanced sensitivity levels provide accurate measurements of thickness differences after machining, electrode application, and poling. This helps determine precise machining specifications required by the desired resonant frequency following all processing steps.
- Expanded measurement capabilities are also available with the barrel and sphere inserts. The former is useful for measuring segments and blocks, while the latter aids with measuring tubes, hemispheres, and rings.
- Improved ease of use, accuracy, and consistency levels make the solution easy to set up and straightforward to operate.
- Data is instantly transmissible to software with its Bluetooth adapter, reducing the risk of human error and speeding up the data collection process.
