8tree has announced that its dentCHECK tool has been adopted by Austrian Airlines. This isn’t the first time the wireless, handheld 3D scanner has been acquired by a company in the aviation industry, as the Lufthansa Group and Boeing have been using the tool for some time.
“We are very satisfied with dentCHECK from 8tree. Using the tool saves us a lot of time in our daily work,” said Michael Larivière, Vice President Technical Division at Austrian Airlines. “The automatic creation of a report looks very professional and contains all the important information. In aviation, time plays a major role in the punctual and safe operation of our aircraft, so this specialised tool is a great advantage for Austrian Airlines.”
The dentCHECK tool is the “world’s only” handheld-portable, wireless 3D scanner tool with integrated augmented reality (AR) which has been purpose built for the aviation industry. The tool has been recognised by all major aerospace OEMs. The scanning tool can be used in a variety of applications including integration into drones and robotic automation cells.
Key features of the dentCHECK tool:
- Provides instant, actionable measurements for critical airframe damage with integrated AR.
- AR boosts consistency (18x), accuracy (20x), and efficiency (90% in time saving).
- By eliminating traditional manual inspection methods, the dentCHECK tool reduces human-related errors.
- Enhances safety with an improved understanding of airframe reliability.
“We are delighted to welcome Austrian Airlines as yet another Lufthansa Group member to the growing base of dentCHECK users”, said Leonard Buck, Marketing Manager at 8tree. “Austrian Airlines joins a growing community of more than three dozen airlines, MROs and OEMs who rely on dentCHECK for end-to-end digitalised 1-click 3d dent-mapping. We’re looking forward to empowering the mechanics and engineers at Austrian Airlines maintenance operations.”
