3D Metrology Conference celebrates its 10th anniversary next year.
The 3D Metrology Conference (3DMC) has announced that it will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Aachen next year. The event, set to run from the 16-18th September 2025, will return to its original location on Campus Melaten after hosting successful events in Hamburg, London, Loughborough, and Bilbao. Professor Ben Hughes (NPL) and Professor Robert Schmitt (WZL) moderate the conference as Chairman and Host.
The event is organised by WZL | RWTH Aachen University, with the UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL), University College London (UCL), Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (PTB) and the WZL Aachen GmbH. Focusing on industrial measurement technology, 3DMC brings together up to 200 industrial users and academic experts with a selection of presentations, special interest sessions, and networking opportunities.
Key topics set to be discussed at 3DMC:
- Predictive quality and maintenance.
- Measurement instrumentation for micro-, meso- and large-scale 3D metrology.
- Metrology systems for robotics and automation applications.
- In-situ and ex-situ metrology for additive manufacturing (AM).
- Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in metrology.
- Metrology data infrastructures and technologies.
- Generalised scene reconstruction and metrological applications.
- Metrology’s relationship with sustainability.
- Augmented and virtual reality.
- X-ray computed tomography (CT).
- Software systems and architectures utilising metrology data.
- Large-scale point clouds.
3DMC will take place in the new machine hall at WZL where attendees will be able to view use cases that utilise a variety of metrology solutions. There will also be technical talks on industrial applications and developments, training, and networking opportunities for both companies and employees.
Manufacturing Quality attended this year’s edition of the 3DMC in Loughborough, we shared what our key takeaways from the event were in October.
