Divergent Technologies acquires Sigma Additive Solutions Inc's quality assurance technology suite

Divergent Technologies Inc. has announced the acquisition of Sigma Additive Solutions Inc.’s in-process quality assurance technology suite, as well as all associated software and intellectual property. The move was motivated by Divergent’s desire to improve the efficiency and quality control levels of its DAPS (Divergent Adaptive Production System) technology. An additional benefit of the acquisition is the strengthening of the company’s IP coverage in the critical technology sector of in-process monitoring.

Sigma is an established provider of in-process quality assurance solutions within the additive manufacturing industry. The company’s quality assurance suite will be used to enhance Divergent’s DAPS technology.

DAPS, which was invented by Divergent Technologies, is a complete software-hardware production system which aims to replace traditional design and manufacturing solutions. The system works by taking a set of inputs and uses AI-driven generative design software to computationally engineer structures, novel materials, and additive manufacturing to materialise structures, as well as automate fixture-less assembly to create multi-part assemblies. After this process, the system can move between manufacturing different structures (e.g., automotive chassis and aircraft fuselages) with no downtime between builds.
The acquisition has allowed Divergent Technologies to integrate Sigma’s technology into the DAPS software platform, while also building upon the in-process quality assurance solution provider’s foundational patents. These additional benefits, gained by Divergent, include:

The DAPS technology has allowed Divergent Technologies to grow its presence in the aerospace, automotive, and defence industries, with its products making the company a Tier 1 supplier. Aston Martin, as well as many other blue-chip automotive customers, form Divergent’s client base, as well as six U.S. government contractors within the aerospace and defence industries.
