Artec 3D has announced the release of its new multi-resolution 3D scanning software, Artec Studio 18. According to the 3D scanner and software manufacturer, the new release features a 4x faster HD mode and AI-boosted Texture Enhancement. Artec Studio 18, like the previous editions before it, has received improved capabilities relating to Artec 3D scanners and the quality of data it can capture.

Key information:

The Artec Studio 18 is debuting a new feature for the software, as it now allows users to merge multi-resolution datasets from different Artec 3D Scanners, as well as process scan data quickly, and create lifelike colour 3D models with AI. Additionally, the new software also features new tools to improve the workflow of users. It is now easier to reduce deviations and modify parts to reflect design intent in reverse engineering. New algorithms aim to accelerate quality inspection as they allow for instant defect identification and ensure models meet industry standards.

“Artec Studio 18 unlocks new possibilities, allowing users to combine data from entirely different scanners at the click of a button,” said Art Yukhin, President and CEO of Artec 3D. “With the handheld Artec Leo and long-range Artec Ray II, it’s now possible to create incredibly detailed digital twins of huge areas like factory floors. This innovation, along with advances in the AI we use to improve scan speed and quality, shows how we continue to be pioneers in the 3D field.”

Artec Studio 18’s accuracy in workflows was certified by German standards leader PtB, which Artec 3D believes underlines its proficiency in 3D metrology.

Using Artec Studio Smart Fusion, users can combine different resolution 3D scan data from any Artec device. Combining capabilities from the Artec Ray II (for digitalising large areas or objects) and the Artec Leo (for picking up the fine details) presents the fastest way to get full scan coverage, according to its developers. After fusion, single-step mesh optimisation then streamlines the editing process. Artec Leo and Eva users will also benefit from a streamlined, AI-powered 4x faster HD mode according to Artec 3D.

Artec Studio 18 builds upon Artec’s colour capture capabilities with AI-boosted Texture Enhancement. The new feature is built around neural network decoding, which should provide yields with much sharper models with enhanced colour contrast.

The 3D scanner and software manufacturer’s latest launch aims to identify inaccuracies quicker while completing quality assurance tasks, using Artec Studio’s Enhanced 3D Compare Map.
